Hi! My name is Sandy and I am an Oakland High School Wildcat and graduate! During the lockdown, it was hard to find things to do and keep myself occupied. Until I saw that EBAYC was hiring interns for this digital marketing internship, which caught my eye instantly. Not only has this internship given me a reason to stay sane and occupied, I was able to work with other Oakland High students who had a common goal of wanting to spread information that would benefit the reader. Through this internship, having the chance to use different media platforms like Wix and Canva, and researching things that I normally wouldn't was eye-opening in it of itself. Even though COVID has taken loads of things away from us, DMM has given me something to think about other than the chaos that was around us. While researching new self care methods and its benefits for DMM, I was able to experiment with a variety of different things like color palettes, themes, layouts, and many more, here is what i've worked on in the past month.
First Canva Interview Practice
I always knew that social media could be a big resource in media marketing and displaying information for others to see and use but, I never really had the chance to use social media in this light since I only used it for personal usage. Using the Shop 55 Instagram account allowed me to see social media as a professional networking tool instead of just a bunch of teenagers using an app to post their lives. Seeing Instagram being used in a new light was not only interesting to see but also enlightening since our media and information could've been useful to others.
IG 3 Page Introduction Post
As summer continues and I go off to college in San Diego, there won't be a lot of things that are bound to change, things like my love for naps, sunsets, and hotpot. Since I am going to be a future college student, the importance of remembering to care for my well-being and mental health is extremely important, something that this internship has emphasized on heavily.
Even though this internship has not only given me experience in digital marketing, it has basically given me a portfolio of my work throughout these past couple of weeks. From short introductions to fully fledged out websites.
Composition Exercise 15 Pandemic Items
As someone who has graduated from high school and is an OHS Alumni, the transition from middle school to high school is definitely a big one. Something that I learned instantly was to keep your circle small and to not overthink or over complicate your school supplies. All I really needed was a binder, a folder, a couple notebooks, PENS and the occasional lead pencil (for math of course). Also, create relationships with your teachers, you are going to have to ask them for recommendation letters some day.
